As a Project Consultant for Vattenfall your role is to facilitate (IT) project(s) and be in the lead for the planning set-up of several projects and their inter-dependencies. You are a naturally strong communicator as well as a structured, driven and organized team-player with good communication skills and a problem-solving mindset. You have the ability to work independently and build relationships with other project resources and stakeholders on all levels. You feel comfortable in sharing your ideas, as well as being challenged in them.

Main tasks and responsibilities as a Project Consultant:

Plan, align, follow-up, (execute) and deliver projects according to or above customer expectations

Coordinate international teams of project resources, actively bridging cultural differences

Establish and coordinate interactions with stakeholders (Business Management, IT management, Security Organizations, Solution Architects, other IT departments, external providers, etc.)

Customer Focus: Keep the end-user or customer’s needs and satisfaction in mind throughout the project lifecycle.

Facilitate or lead sub-proposals or –projects.

Reporting to Program Manager. Able to provide highlight reports

Skills:    

We are looking for candidates with:

Previous experience in project coordination or planning.

Previous experience in change management.

Substantive experience from leading or facilitating projects at different clients and deep/proven knowledge in the project management area such as stakeholder engagement, communication, integration of interfaces and dependencies, scoping, planning, negotiations, procurement, risk management, time budgeting and cost control, team building and performance etc.

Technical skills:

Project planning tooling preferable MS Projects or willing to learn on short notice.

Proficiency with MS office Excel en PowerPoint.

Soft Skills:

Team Collaboration: Foster collaboration and teamwork among project team members.

Natural structured worker and able to transfer this to others.

Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements and circumstances.

Attention to Detail: Pay attention to small details while also keeping sight of the bigger picture.

Able to motivate people to move together and united towards solutions

Presentation Skills: Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to stakeholders.

General skills/ extra comments

Since we work in an international environment, we expect you to be fluent in English (writing/speaking).

The function is in Dutch – fluent is required and not negotiable.

Candidates that have track records in PMO and Change management are preferred.

Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects is highly valued.

A hard requirement is previous experience in consultancy for the sub-project.

Project description:

The Smart metering project for BU Heat NL covers the development and implementations as well as the installation of smart meters for every customer in the Netherlands (165.000 B2C and 2.000 B2B). The project has started already, and there is an open spot for the project consultant role. This is amongst others helping in the PMO-office, helping in change management and preparing sub-projects of which one is ‘strategic review meetbedrijf after the end of this program’.

The PMO is mostly setup but needs extra attention. Documentation (functional requirements), milestones, issue log, decision log, risk, and progression management, change procedures, resource planning, dashboards, capacity (resources and hardware), financial situation, minutes of meeting are not all complete. You will manage the PMO and contact the project managers to align the actions/milestones.

On top of this, many changes are delivered and required within the program. We are actively looking for help within the PSO team to facilitate this change. We are already structured around the customer side, but we also need to help our sponsor department (het meetbedrijf) on a more continuous basis.

A large part of the assignment will be to help the business adapt to the program and the continuous improvement cycle.

PSO will take part in the overall project planning and work closely with the project team. He/she will be responsible to align the planned activities in the Netherlands and with third parties. Also help with signaling risks on time and propose mitigations.

For several sub-assignments, -projects that come by regularly one is planned to be part-time dedicated to this role. The length of this program requires a good view of the business department that will take over full responsibilities from 2027 onwards. This will require a ‘strategic review for the end of the project about the meetbedrijf’. A draft assignment is available and main stakeholders are expecting a quick result.

There will be regular team meetings and steerco sessions. Work can be done from home or Vattenfall office. Expected effort is 80% time (4 days per week or more), during normal work hours (some punctual flexibility allowed). Usually, Thursday is a frequent in-office day for a part of the team. The nature of change management would also require some office days.
